A couple of weeks ago a young black man was shot and killed by another young black man in Florence, SC. In the newspaper article, the victim’s mother made the statement “I supported black lives matter- when are they going to address black-on-black crime?” I felt sorry for her not only for losing her son, but for her being naive enough to believe a political movement fostered concerns about people.
Some years ago there was an active campaign here in New York City to reduce black-on-black crime. It was as if they were saying, if you must mug or assault someone, make it a white person.
