John Coltrane’s “Ballads” is one of most beloved jazz albums...
Man, I love me some Drum Corps.
Back when Drum Corps was still Drum Corps. Not a fan of the current stuff.
I was listening to it all, too, mostly because I was into band and Drum Corps...:)
I can love and appreciate a lot of styles nearly everything, I simply do not, and cannot enjoy rap.
I find it unpleasant.
Ska and the early hip hop were OK, but I don’t know what that crap is they listen to today.
I feel the same way about white Pop
God-gifted talent when you show up with your band, talk about the sheet music, and produce an album on one take. That is not even fair.
RIP.
Steve Gadd is awesome

I admit that it does inspire feelings of jealously in me...couldn’t he have even shed a sliver of that talent for a mortal like me that I might enjoy a lifetime of being able to wield a musical instrument with that sliver? It just isn’t fair!
Heh, my Liberal thought for the day!
I admit that I find most music today uninteresting to me.
Granted, each time I sample it, I feel less inclined to make another attempt, which results in a vicious circle for me.
The less I listen, the less likely I am to have the ability to appreciate it.
Al is still touring regularly - or was until COVID. I saw him three years ago in Arizona. But unfortunately, he has drunk deep of the anti-Trump elixir, and can’t resist dropping little asides during his shows. Though I like his music over the last couple of decades, I’m not inclined to pay to go to his shows any more.
I hate when artists do that.
Shut up and play yer guitar!
Sigh...
If I gave up all entertainers with whacko viewpoints, I’d have very little entertainment.
I saw neil young with the pretenders, 2 whacko libs, but they never talked politics and they did the best version of “all along the watchtower I have ever heard together.
