Exactly. My give a damn meter seems to be busted regarding morons who speed through construction zones.
My GADM wore out years ago. Saw so much insanity over my time driving long haul I can’t forget some of it.
All because people can’t slow down or wait their turn in construction areas.
Outside of Chicago I once saw a trucker have to lock the brakes and steer hard right to miss a car because two impatient cars dove into a one car space and brought everything to a sudden halt.
Unfortunately the rolls of steel on his flat bed didn’t get the memo. One broke free and slammed into the compact car that he swerved to miss. The three people inside never knew what killed them.
Saw a old battlewagon of a Buick slam into a church van. Buick driver and one rider in the van killed. It took six ambulances to carry the living to the hospital. Highway was closed for five hours until all body parts were accounted for.
Saw a construction worker smeared along a Jersey wall like so much strawberry jam.
Just three examples.
I’m fine with police dressing like construction workers to enforce work zone speed limits.
They also need to put some real teeth in the laws.
Speeding 5-9 mph or more? $1000 fine/loss of license for 30-60 days/community service along roadways.
Speeding 10-15 mph? $5000 fine/loss of license for 60-90 days/community service along roadways.
Speeding 15+mph? $10,000+ fine/loss of license for one year/30 days in the county cooler/community service along roadways.
I ain’t joking.
