Questions become bigger threats than foreign missiles. Words are regarded as weapons legally possessed only by those in power. For all else, they are rendered contraband.

This is especially depressing when you realize that we have a whole Constitution dedicated to preventing just this situation from arising.

Bit by bit, the passage of the Great American Experiment was diluted and supplanted by error and deliberate untruths, until only the forms remained, and the content was entirely hollowed out. As tyranny came to America, it was not be the assault by enemy troops, nor conquest by sea or air, but a dimming of the sensibilities of the majority of Americans themselves. We have seen “America”, the spirit and ideal, changed into “America in name only”, as surely as the Roman Republic became the Roman Empire, and sank into the morass that was the decivilization of much of the European continent for a thousand years.
