I recall about a decade ago a Chicago suburb which rounded up a couple dozen deer and sent them to some sort of deer refuge (farm?) downstate. 16 foot fence, but only a foot or so underground. One night coyotes dug their way in and had a feast. They were astounded at the carnage amongst their former deer. Should have just allowed bowhunters. Giving the meat to the homeless would have been better.
