How many coal fired power plants are there in the world today?
Green New Deal???
The EU has 468 - building 27 more... Total 495
Turkey has 56 - building 93 more... Total 149
South Africa has 79 - building 24 more... Total 103
India has 589 - building 446 more... Total 1035
Philippines has 19 - building 60 more... Total 79
South Korea has 58 - building 26 more... Total 84
Japan has 90 - building 45 more... Total 135
China has 2,363 - building 1,171 more... Total = 3,534
That’s 5,615 projected coal powered plants in just 8 countries.
USA has 15 - building 0 more...Total = 15
And Democrat politicians with their "green new deal” want to brainwash us and shut down those 15 plants in order to "save” the planet.
This is EXCELLENT!! I knew the rough idea about the number of coal plants, but had not yet seen actual numbers until now.
This makes the point. Whatever the USA does or doesn’t do won’t make a Tinker’s Dam regarding CO2 unless the rest of the world, especially China and India reduce their coal-fired power plants as well.
The whole “global warming” and “climate change” gambits by Democrats are to create a *supposedly* sound, scientific basis to justify a federal government power-grab and the passage of MORE laws to increase taxes and increased control of the privately owned power industry and its distribution. Never forget the *main* motivation they have!
“Oh, we will SAVE the planet!!”
WAKE UP AMERICA !!!! We are being played ….. again !!!
Please pass this on...as it is Not too late!!
China is not about to commit economic suicide. They realize that without reliable, cheap electricity there is poverty, social and political instability. BTW Australia is getting rich selling China all the coal it can produce. Meanwhile in demented, corrupt Biden’s America.....
There is this to be concerned about - about 40% of our electricity comes from natural gas plants. These are relatively inexpensive to operate. Keep in mind that much of our natural gas comes from fracking and fracking is a target of the GND fanatics. If ‘Slo-Jo and The Ho’ are able to ban fracking, expect your power bill to rise by several orders of magnitude.
Not too sure I trust your numbers, but anecdotally America is shutting down coal plants in favor of ..... NOTHING.
I really don’t care if Democrats want to destroy their society to save an Earth everybody else gets to destroy.
I just don’t want to stay on that ship with them.
Let them sink. Take care of you and your people and get away from Democrats.
When your enemy is committing suicide stand aside and watch.
Full disclosure; I have 10.6 kW of new solar panels ready to install, I live in very rural Hawaii, so I will have power for my needs.
btt
Why doesn’t the press ask the question, “where is our electricity going to come from?” of the President. Why doesn’t anyone in DC seem to care about real, concrete issues like keeping the lights and heat on in this country. ?
Are the Kardashians there?...
In 2019 there were 241 coal powered units across the United States which generated 23% of the United States electricity in 2019, an amount of electricity similar to that from renewable energy or nuclear power but about half of the amount generated by natural gas plants.

I think France gets close to 80% of their power via nuclear generation.
We should be building GenIV nuke plants.
Shut those plants down now and replace them with acres and acres of wind turbines with solar panels on the vanes.
Don’t believe ridiculous unsourced emails should be your lesson here.
This Ted Talk explains everything you need to know about Green Energy by a Greenie:

The come will come when these GND fanatics and their supporters will be purged mercilessly from public influence.
Hi.
I don’t care as long we get unirrupted electrons.
For my whatever.
Tesla, or a new home in Napa Valley...

I believe there are over 600 coal fired plants in the US. Here in Utah, the 1,800-MW coal-fired Intermountain Power Plant in Delta, Utah is supposed to convert into an 840-MW combined-cycle facility that will run first on a mix of natural gas and hydrogen and will ultimately operate on hydrogen alone, according to the owners. All of the electricity currently goes to CA, who does not like coal. The loss of the coal market is causing serious a depression in Utah coal mining towns. No idea where the hydrogen will coming from - it’s been the fuel of the future for at least the last 50 years. My bet is it will be natural gas for a long time, especially since they think they will store it underground in natural caverns.
I almost want to protest just because it’s CA:)
tsk tsk.
apparently not enough in calico to prevent their rolling blackouts...
Uhhh this says 400, I’ll take websites word for it. Try again

Notice how many Solar and Wind Powered Plants there are and the percentage of the Electricity they produce. IT IS SCANDELOUS!
