Don’t they realize that the word “breast” is already gender-neutral? The Bible speaks twice of Jesus’s breast, and the Publican sinner smote his breast when asking for mercy. In Shakespeare’s “Merchant of Venice,” Shylock seeks to cut a pound of flesh from Antonio’s breast. If they are going to argue for inclusive language, they at least ought to restrict themselves to language that isn’t already inclusive.
