You can always freeze it.

It’s both state and federal law not to waste bacon.

As long as you keep quite about having it, about a month. I’ve gone that long. Only because I was out of town

I go by the smell test.

Also, bacon should not be green.

Otherwise it’s fine.

I break it up into sizes that I will most likely cook and freeze it in ziplock bags.

That is the best way to store bacon, because it thaws in an instant and keeps indefinitely.

What is leftover bacon? Is that even possible?

I typically cook up extra bacon and toss what remains into a ziplock incase I need it on a sammich for lunch, or on a baked potato for dinner, or just to stick in my mouth for no damned reason at all.

I don't know how long already cooked bacon lasts in the fridge, but I know it still tastes great later in the day, and even the next. I would be it could last weeks if it weren't somehow eaten.

In my fridge? About 30 seconds. I’m not sure bacon has ever been in my fridge long enough to get cold.

About the same length of time ice cream lasts in my freezer.

What is this, the “buy more bacon” council?

I always thought bacon was close to salt pork. Civil war soldiers would carry salt pork for weeks at a time. Refrigerated salt pork will keep from months.

Of course dysentery probably killed as many civil war soldiers as bullets did...

The real challenge is not how long it lasts but why is it already gone.

There’s wet cured bacon, and dry cured bacon. I’m not sure I would call wet cured bacon “real bacon”. It’s nasty. Dry cured bacon can be hung for the entire winter “open” in the right conditions.

As long as it isn’t green. If it is green, send it to the Biden Admin. They LOVE green stuff!
