Jerry Fielding is mentioned in this. He was the only one who scored a Dirty Harry movie other than Lalo Schifrin. 'The Enforcer'.

Lennie Niehaus was my ultimate hero. Besides being a great arranger, he was a consummate alto sax player. I had the pleasure of attending a “comeback” recording session he made at the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach several years ago, and chatting with him. I told him that he was a National Treasure. A lovely, gentle man.

We go back to the Army at Fort Ord in ’51 and ’52. We are losing real heroes and replacing them with communists

I am amazed at the erudition of Mr. Eastwood. Here is a guy I've grown up with, watched him in cinema,
and at his stage in life, in his mid '90s, he can put out a laudatory eulogy for a valued friend.
I look to the latent intelligence in Clint and marvel at the demented, vacuous fool that has been placed in the Whitehouse.
Well, done ,Clint..well done.

Nice, personal, and intimate tribute by Eastwood. Lots of history in those memories.

“[1992’s] Unforgiven, I [worked] with him on that. I wrote a theme on the way to the location, and I said, “I’ve got this theme. Why don’t you orchestrate this?” I wanted a lonely guitar feeling,”
Anyone who’s watched that classic remembers the superb and haunting guitar solo at the ending of the movie. Right after “you better bury Ned good or I’ll kill everyone in this town, kill your wife, children, burn your house down..”

He was in the army, but in the music department. Drumbo, that’s as far as I’ve read so far, but I’m convinced you’ll find this a good read.

What a great story!
This would make (another) excellent Clint Eastwood movie.
