Forging 21st-Century Strategic Deterrence
USNI ^ | February 2021 | Admiral Charles A. Richard, U.S. Navy

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Department of Defense (DoD) has not had to consider the possibility of great power competition, crisis, or direct armed conflict with a nuclear-capable peer.

Unfortunately, the current environment no longer affords us that luxury. The implications of today’s competition and the associated risk of great power crisis or direct armed conflict are profound; they affect nearly every fundamental assumption we make about the use of armed force in the defense of the nation and its allies.

Not to worry...
Our new communist masters undoubtedly have a plan...

For example, they might simply transfer all our defense personnel & facilities to the chicoms and let them worry about it...

After all, defense has nothing to do with the important things like climate change, social justice, reparations, immigration, and LGBT issues...

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Department of Defense (DoD) has not had to consider the possibility of the coordinated forces of Political Correctness under-mining its man power and torpedoing its effectiveness. The prioritizing of renaming ships and engaging in same-sex marriage ceremonies must take place over developing character and weapons for the Navy has met the enemy, and it is the USA of the Left, but which has recruited it.

“Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Department of Defense (DoD) has not had to consider the possibility of great power competition, crisis, or direct armed conflict with a nuclear-capable peer”

In the original cold war, everybody was well aware that any direct shooting war with Russia would almost certainly result in nuclear war. Now our psycho generals and admirals are spoiling for a conventional war with Russia and are convinced they will accept a defeat and not use tactical nukes to stop a battlefield defeat, or will not nuke the nation attacking them.

Our generals today are neocon extremists.
