Heavy rains followed by an extended drought, an increase in local consumption and a drop in the number of marijuana farmers have caused a shortage in the island’s famed but largely illegal market that experts say is the worst they’ve seen.
“It’s a cultural embarrassment,” said Triston Thompson, chief opportunity explorer for Tacaya, a consulting and brokerage firm for the country’s nascent legal cannabis industry.

Yeah, In Colorado of the USA any adult can grow 6 MJ plants. I have heard stories that those growers will start seeds indoors in February then plant the plants in the yards during May. Harvest in October. Can you imagine what the growing cycle would be if it was Dothan, Alabama or Athens, Ga.? Or Florida Man in Tampa Bay?! Or the entire state of Mississippi!

It grows easily but farmers up in the mountains are at the mercy of extreme weather. Shortages are not uncommon on the island during poor harvest seasons.
The flowers are prone to mold during very rainy times.
And there is no irrigation on remote farms to help during dry times. I have heard of farmers hauling 5 gallon jugs of water through the woods to save their harvest

Well it ain’t a first world problem unless one relies on this particular source for uh pain management.
Clarity of mind. Work. A crisis, I tell you.
Having been to Jamaica twice I can assure you that clarity of mind is not what one seeks when vacationing there. If the ganja don’t get you then the bartenders will.
