Oscar-, Tony- and Emmy-winning actor Christopher Plummer has passed away. He was 91.

The legendary actor passed peacefully at his home in Connecticut, with his wife Elaine Taylor, by his side, the Post confirmed on Friday.

“Chris was an extraordinary man who deeply loved and respected his profession with great old fashion manners, self deprecating humor and the music of words,” his manager and friend Lou Pitt said. “He was a National Treasure who deeply relished his Canadian roots. Through his art and humanity, he touched all of our hearts and his legendary life will endure for all generations to come. He will forever be with us.”

Two reasons apparently.

1. He thought it was overly sentimental

2. He was pissed at director Robert Wise for dubbing his version of “Edelweiss” in the final cut.

He was the nemesis police detective in “Delores Claiborne.” Delores had many colorful names for him.

RIP.

Once the oldest of the Hollywood old guard and those who became stars in the 1970s are gone, there will be very few truly glamorous, charismatic stars left.

Ninety-one is a good long run and he continued working to the end. From The Sound of Music to The Man Who Would be King to All the Money in the World RIP Christopher Plummer.

There was a Spike Lee movie where he plaid an ex-Nazi head of a bank. I thought Spike Lee did it deliberately to imply Von Trapp was a Nazi.

Inside Man, good performances from Denzel Washington and Clive Owen. But Jodie Foster.... ugh.

Christopher Plummer. I’ve been hearing his name all my life. I’ve definitely seen movies he was in. And I don’t have the slightest idea what he looks or sounds like. I guess if an actor doesn’t really grab you for whatever reason he never really registers at all. RIP, Mr. Plummer.

He wiped the floor with Gregory Peck in “The Scarlet and the Black.” Peck as usual looked like he was suffering from assorted sharp objects slowly escaping from his nether regions. Plummer, on the other hand, played the slowly reforming Nazi and did it perfectly. He must have actually read about the real-life character he was portraying. Peck played a stock Irish priest straight out of Vaudeville and did it very badly.

LOL...the more I thought of it, I couldn’t think of a specific role he was a villain in...so I had to look.

The two movies I could find where he was a bad guy that stuck out for me (besides Chang) was in Dreamscape and Col. Muntz in UP...

Funny. Seemed like more than that to me.

He thought it was overly sentimental

Interesting statement for him to make given his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes a couple of decades later...

He’s also believed to have said: “Alright, I’ll wear the lederhosen, but I’m not carrying that bloody fat kid up the hill!”

There’s one thing I ‘ll never forgive him for: falling ni love with the campy, obnoxious, Tammy Grimes, and having Amanda Plummer, whose a carbon copy of her mother, equally insufferable, just a mess.

Julie Andrews showed up on the SOM set every day exceeding cheerful and chipper. It grated Mr Plummer something awful.

He was a convincing grumpy uncle in Nicholas Nickleby.

I disagree. Hollywood stars could be just as popular and glamorous if they tossed their phones in the trash. The fact that most people here didn’t know his politics speaks volumes.

The “stars” of today would also have to groom and dress themselves better and get some real style worth admiring. They are mostly all slobs these days.
