And I was half asleep. I recognized the quote, from a member of the Algonquin Round Table. The second letter is probably not what you think it is, if you don't google the quote. The quote refers to a young actress, and is from a review of a play. The same author said, "I had a bad seat. It faced the stage."

Think a bit about the last 3 words, and common phrases.
