Secession -- It happens!

A week or so ago, a story was posted on FR: "Texas secession bill filed in House" (https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3929116/posts). There have been similar stories over the last few months. This video is about another vote/secession (Scotland). Throughout history, borders have been redrawn, and entities have come and gone. We succeeded in 1776 but failed in 1861. The UK had Brexit, the USSR dissolved, Quebeck tried, and many others have done so worldwide. People go their separate ways. Stuff happens.

If any business, school, or state project in Texas is receiving unconstitutional federal funding, funding based on unconstitutional federal taxes that Congress cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers, then Texas is actually an unwitting enabler of the unconstitutionally big federal government that it wants to secede from imo. The same for any other state.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

In other words, given the Supreme Court’s clarification of the fed’s constitutionally limited power to appropriate taxes, probably most so-called “federal” funding in any state is arguably state revenues that the corrupt, post-17th Amendment (17A) ratification feds stole from the states by means of unconstitutional federal taxes.

Such revenues should never have left any state, the revenues instead spent any way legal majority state voters residing in a state want it spent.

In fact, based on the writings of Thomas Jefferson and Justice Joseph Story, here is an incomplete list of INTRAstate issues, expressed in first half 19th century terms, that the states have never expressly constitutionally given Congress the express power to dictate, regulate or tax and spend for, the feds now wrongly ignoring state sovereignty on these issues.

The reason that patriots everywhere are now being oppressed under the boots of unconstitutionally big federal government is the following imo.

Regardless that the last of state sovereignty-respecting majority Supreme Court justices had clarified the fed's constitutionally limited powers in United States v. Butler, using inappropriate words like “concept" and “implied,” FDR’s state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices later scandalously initiated the politically correct repeal of the 10th Amendment in Wickard v. Filburn (Wickard).

And since the time of Wickard, generations of misguided voters have unthinkingly abused their 17A voting power to not only finish off the 10th Amendment, but have also effectively nullified the Constitution’s Article V amendment process by electing corrupt senators who promise constitutionally indefensible federal spending programs to get themselves elected regardless what the states want.

Finally, can anybody imagine constitutionally clueless state government leaders demanding that the feds surrender stolen state revenues back to the state if a state decides to secede from the Union? I can’t.

80% of Maine....the Second Congressional district....27,000 square miles.....is Trump country.

Trump carried this district in 2016 and 2020 and earned one electoral vote each time.

Strong Second Amendment country, too....even more so than Texas.

We do NOT want to be part of Canada.

The president should hire Freepers.

A huge step in the right direction.

Biggest problem I see is that Texas holds the refining for the entire US. That’s worth the US invading and occupying should an uprising occur.

Also, and I’ve been saying this for decades - you can check - Texas is not as patriotic as you may think. It faces the same problems every state faces with creeping socialists. Even Arkansas, where I currently reside, is turning blue real fast.

Texas tried this once before. Didn’t work out too good.

I see a lot of yeas and nays on here, but this is just a bill for a referendum to be voted on by the citizens of Texas. Whether the bill succeeds or not, it sure would be interesting to see how we would vote. If for no other value than to see liberal heads explode in stereo.

Texas is not as patriotic as you may think.

Austin, parts of Houston, parts of Dallas. True. The vast majority of the state? Forget that crap. We will keep our guns. We will not go quietly into the boxcars. Period.

Texas goes and the Democrats have enough blue they’ll never loose power. If I was a rat I’d be even more for it than those on this card.

The South lost the Civil War. And was total devastation.

Texas on the other hand was where the refugees fled to. The occupation of Texas was not long and was pretty weak. They changed some laws (like handgun laws) to help the carpetbaggers and scallywags survive. They finally were told to leave or.....

And Obunghole can’t become President, just like Kamala’s Harryass can’t become Vice-President nor President. Just like Biden can’t cheat to win the seat of the President...

But is it enough?

I knew some pretty stalwart, tough guys in Connecticut and watched them all line up to register.

I’m doubtful now.

I was on a conference call tonight with Texas Governor Greg Abbott. The topic was specifically discussed. There are at least 19 pro gun bills in play for this legislative session and the Governor will use everything he can to resist encroachment on the 2nd Amendment.

He was the Texas AG and is known to have brought the most cases of any Governor against the Federal Government during the Obama era. He intends to make the state of Texas a sanctuary state for the 2nd Amendment.

It will not be that simple here. And if they manage to get the Federal Courts in play, I think the State of Texas will openly defy them.

The South chose poorly. If it had prevailed we would not be the great nation we are today. We would have ended up as some Balkanized mess of God knows what.

I just pray to God we can survive this clown in office now.

What happened from 1861-1865 is over and done. If We The People are to survive Biden then Americans from every point on the compass need to unite and thwart everything he tries to do to us.
