The old idea that everyone is entitled to a defense is being replaced by the new idea that anyone associated with Trump must be destroyed.
The Senate's farcical impeachment trial of former president Trump is set to begin on February 9. Farcical or not, Trump is entitled to be represented by the attorney of his choice — a right inherent in every American called upon to face a judicial body in America. The Democrat party, however, no longer recognizes that right for Trump or anyone associated with him. Activists are working to destroy completely the two new attorneys who have stepped up to defend Trump.
Over the weekend, news broke that the attorneys Trump had lined up for his impeachment trial had quit. The problem was apparently over strategy:
CNN reported a person familiar with the departures as saying that the former president wanted the lawyers representing him to focus on his allegations of mass election fraud and that the election was stolen from him.
The legal team reportedly intended to focus on the legality of convicting a president after they have left office.
Both sides make sense. As an attorney, if I have a clear shot at a procedural dismissal, I'm taking it. Forty-five Republican senators have already announced that they believe it's unconstitutional for the Senate to hold an impeachment trial for a private citizen.

For his part, Trump, like all defendants who know themselves to be innocent, wants to make his case in court. Getting dismissed on procedural grounds leaves a cloud over his head. He understands that this is the last chance to get facts about election fraud before the American people. The Democrats are memory-holing the facts and saying any challenge to the election is seditious. It's now or never.

Those attorneys are morons. This is not a legal trial but a political one. There’s no independent jury and no threat of imprisonment. The “prosecution” as it were has openly admitted is the goal is to prevent him from seeking office again. It’s time to bring their fraud out into the open.
Trump has outsmarted his enemies again. The bogus impeachment trial in the Senate gives Trump the public platform to present the evidence that the election was very fraudulent and Biden did not win. The left does not want the evidence presented in a “court”. Trump is taking advantage of the faux impeachment.
Nothing precludes Trump’s attorneys from also arguing the unconstitutionality of the impeachment, but Trump is also taking advantage of the publicly broadcasted trial to confirm the election was stolen.
This is entirely political.
If the left can get away with intimidating attorneys for a former President, they can do it for you and me.

Yes, they’ve battened down the hatches and are rolling out the cannons. They know this show trial is a dangerous and foolish thing to do, but like all good Marxists, they know the value of a symbol, and destroying Trump (and thereby all of us) is going to be the symbol of their triumph.

Agreed, this was intended to be a show trial. Basically, Trump is guilty of not conceding the election. (last I looked this is not a criminal offense)
Why not use the show trial to show the evidence that the election was some combination of conducted improperly /fixed/stolen? Most of the public will have no clue what Bernoilli's law is and if it is relevant to the case, but will understand when Trump is not allowed to make a defense.
One of the charges in the Article of Impeachment is that Trump incited a riot by saying the election was fraudulent. Trump has a right to present evidence that the election was a fraud. Biden is not legit. Biden should quit.
Politicians are either for lifting America up to the greatest that it can be through capitalism and conservatism OR they are attempting to take America in the downward direction into the dark alleys of communism. If one of the politicians claims to sit in the middle I call BS and say that he does not belong in a leadership role.
Let's give them the moniker that they deserve. They are communists. They have proven in the last year:
1.) The state can control churches and prohibit the free exercise your religion. This has been supported by both Republican and Democrat governors and legislators.
2.) Republicans and Democrats have abridged your free speech on every front, including the traditional town square, but also in the 21st century forums. You may not speak your mind for fear of losing your job.
3.) Conservative views in a free press are actively squelched by globalist corporations with the full support of politicians, both Republican and Democrat.
4.) The right of the people to peacefully assemble has been abused by both Republicans and Democrats. This applies in your own home with friends and family, at church, at work, in businesses, in schools, at entertainment venues, and in open public spaces.
5.)Because of items 2, 3, and 4, all dictated by both Republicans and Democrats your right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances has been severely degraded.
6.) The right of the people to keep and bear arms has long been infringed, by both Republicans and Democrats.
7.) The essence of the 3rd and 4th Amendments have been violated through government entities and their globalist corporate minions through spying on every phone call you make, every text message you send, every post on the Internet you make, and every financial transaction you make. This is fully supported by both Republicans and Democrats. There is no right to any privacy in your own home or anywhere you go. No warrants issued and in the worse of cases there are secret courts that issue warrants based on political fabrications bought by Democrats and delivered by Republicans. Thank you John McCain, may you burn in hell. (And yes, I know you are reading this, government, as I type this from my home.)
8.) Citizens, including President Trump and people working on his campaign, are routinely subjected to double jeopardy, tried in multiple courts on bogus charges based on stolen and fabricated evidence from item 7. The people are routinely deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law. Their private property has been taken for public use, without adequate compensation. Both Republicans and Democrats fully support these actions particularly when building resumes that supposedly read as being tough on crime or doing the bidding of "public good". It is pure communism when the state controls property since there is no private property.
9.) The right to a speedy trail in criminal proceedings is non-existent, unless you call routinely waiting for a year or years speedy.
10.) Impartial juries do not exist because the country is so divided that it is impossible for most to be impartial.
11.) The state and courts routinely make it impossible for the people, including the President Trump, to confront witnesses against them through unconstitutional whistleblower laws and other means.
12.) Witnesses with evidence in favor of President Trump have been denied entry into the country. Witnesses in favor of the persecuted are often denied by courts for the sole reason of a speedy trial which doesn't exist to begin with.
13.) There are two tiers of justice for Americans. Those with money that can afford legal representation and those without means that are given public defenders that are poorly educated, of low intelligence, and have such overloaded case loads that they cannot provide adequate representation. The right to legal representation has been so perverted, as this article indicated, that even people of means like President Trump are denied legal representation when they can afford it. President Trump's legal team has been systematically driven away through political pressure, the threat of losing clients, being fired from their law firms. This is being perpetuated by Republican and Democrat politicians, globalist corporations and leftist activists supported by Republicans and Democrats.
14.) Excessive bail, excessive fines, and cruel and unusual punishments are routine inflicted on some. While others receive no bail, fine, or punishment. This is evident in many American cities and some American states. At a minimum there is no equal and uniform justice in America.
15.) The 9th Amendment is ignored since even rights guaranteed by the Constitution are in ignored. Certainly, rights not enumerated in the Constitution cannot exist if the rights in the Constitution no longer exist.
16.) Powers not delegated in the US Constitution have been usurped by the federal government and the people and several states are denied such powers. Yet another constitutional abuse by both Republicans and Democrats in a quest for their own power.
17.)The 12 Amendment was abused by the Republican Vice President, Mike Pence (may he rot in hell), Republican and Democrat members of Congress, and numerous state legislatures thus disenfranchising millions of voters and thus destroying the most fundamental right of all American citizens; the right to vote.
I will stop this enumeration of abuses here. For the slow people, central to this treatise is the theme that both Democrats and Republicans have willingly and systematically destroyed citizens rights. YOUR RIGHTS.

I have never voted for a Democrat in my long life. I will never vote for a Republican again. It really does not matter. My right to enfranchisement has been stolen and no one will do anything about it. In fact, it appears even President Trump's formal legal team did not care to defend that right, but instead saw fit to seek acquittal through technical means for expediency sake. Certainly they were Republicans. Certainly they do not care about my rights or your rights. They only care about themselves and not more lofty ideas such as fundamental rights of the People. They have no business practicing law in America. Perhaps they would be better suited employ in a Banana Republic. But wait, that's exactly where they are.
It is time to rise above Parties. It is time to reclaim our fundamental and God-given rights. It is time to fight back.

Yes, and Trump has standing.
The platform is the trial in the Senate. Trump’s attorneys will be able to present evidence of widespread voter fraud.

I can quite believe strategy is the issue, from a law firm point of view.
Apparently one of Trump’s defense lawyers works for a firm that is suing Trump for saying postal votes are fraudulent, or something like that!
I don’t think a law firm can act for the plaintiff AND the defendant...
