Although I sleep next to a pump 12, I’ve always thought a .410 pump, pistol grip, is excellent for home defense. Same energy as a .44 mag, not much recoil, short swing, and 9 #4 pellets (0.24” dia) at 1200fps nothing to sneeze at. Even women can handle it no prob. Overpenetration not anywhere near as bad as 12 ga or rifle.

I started hunting with my 16ga Browning semiauto 50 years ago. Frankly, I like it better than my 12ga Winchester pump that I've had for a few years longer.

For the last 20 some years, 16ga has fallen out of favor such that factory loads are uncommon to find on the shelf. Frustrating.....
