Lever action rifle for personal defense
YouTube ^ | 03/30/2011 | Sheriff Jim

Democrats are about the pass the most draconian gun control legislation since 1968 GCA. Modern rifles are going to be highly restricted, if not abolished.

Elections have consequences; The powerless have no rights; and telling a judge "I shall not comply" is not going to keep you out of prison.

So hide that AR and get a lever action short rifle for defense.

Number 1 buck.

Good suggestion. Presently Ole Betsy carries 00 - time to reconsider.

Hang on a laser and a blinding flashlight and you're ready to go.

Ready to go what? Spotlighting deer?

I've never understood the idea of pin-pointing my own location by lighting up my firearm.

Especially with a scatter-gun.

A guy goes to considerable effort to conceal himself and his weapon, then gives to his foe a nice bright light-path to his head and chest.

I do however very much envy the shotgun in the pic.

Lean, clean & mean!

Sawed off 12 gauge, I think. Woody Strode used a mare’s leg(briefly) in “Once Upon a Time in the West.”

I like having a light. Using it is optional.

I hear that.

I shouldn't have made it sound like they are always bad.

I've long believed that a laser on a small carry weapon can come in very handy at, say, the grocery or bank or Post Office, where a nice small bright beam could freeze a bad guy, or provide a hell of a nice aim.

I agree that there are outdoor uses too, but I guess I have always been uneasy about providing a lighted marker on myself.

Been thinking about getting one and using with the 1.75” shot shells. I know the early ones had a few problems, but the latest iterations seem to have smoothed those out.

For indoor use, they can help insure you’re not shooting a friendly.

I once found it expedient to get behind cover when dealing with a guy in a truck, Two of his buddies had gone up a hill behind him, I assumed the cops were on the way. Anyway, he couldn’t see me, so he turned on his headlights. I hit him with the maglight just to let him know I was still there. I took two things from that incident: get a shorter shotgun, and mount a light.

I’ve got a laser on a micro pistol. Makes me more confident in shot placement.

You think lever action will escape their insanity?

Ever read the Brady Bill?

I did. 3 times. Handguns would have been banned entirely, and I kept seeing the phrase “self loading firearms”, and never a word about semi auto.

I finally found out that was deceptive language. The idea was to say well, all you do is work this slide and your pump shotgun loads itself, so it’s a self loading gun, you can’t have it. Ditto for bolt and lever action.

The only thing not specifically banned was single shot, load by hand. Those would not have lasted long.

Same concept as 30 years ago, when they said they just wanted a no smoking section in a restaurant. Now we have signs in every city park saying strictly no smoking, OUTDOORS. Also banned within 25 feet of resraurant doors. Bloomberg actually tried to ban smoking in your own home, when he was mayor of NYC.

Never trust these people. Lever action will not survive liberals’ gun control push, nothing will.

Anything they do is just to get their foot in the door.

We just want your assault rifles. Right...

We just want a no smoking section. Remember that.

You heard it here first.

Keep an eye out for the German-made Feit flashlights that turned up at Costco a few years ago.

They look like big Maglights only they work forever and ever, and light up a coon at 300 feet.

I haven’t seen them at Costco in sometime but they also could be found online.

Yes, I just looked, and Amazon (sorry) is selling them, the 500 Lumen for about $20 and the “FL 500 Lumen” at somewhat more.

I ordered the 1000 Lumen model once and it was heavier than the 500 but no brighter, just heavier, so I sent it back.

I think I have 5 or 6 of them now...The Flashlight King, as Joe Soucheray used to say.

They are in many stores in the USA.

Rechargeable?

I got what appears to be the 125 lumen version for next to nothing. Takes 1AA battery. Someone (guess who) may be cloning the Feits, or they may just get branded by whoever is selling them. Batteries that give up the ghost in other things still have juice enough to power it for hours. Love it.

Or the version that takes 3 C cells? I’m sold on the whole concept. Not a big fan of C cells, but if it’s as efficient as this little one, I’m in.

I have a Henry Big Boy 44 Magnum lever action rifle and a Taurus Raging Bull 44 Magnum revolver that are my go to weapons should I have to venture outside.

I'd hate to be on the receiving end of that volley.

I’ve got the 3 cell model.

I hear you about the rechargeables, which they might have available somewhere, but the 3-cell version seems to keep its juice for quite a while.

As you probably know you can send anything back to Amazon too.

Cool. Thanks. A friend’s wife has Prime. I think she may be responsible for keeping them afloat.

Kel-Tec??

Yup. Forgot to ID it. It's their KSG model.

What bugs me is that their MSRP is $770 but the lowest price I have seen is $1,100.
