You are correct, he did nominate Gerald Ford. Then Nixon resigned and Gerald Ford became President and nominated Nelson Rockefeller for VP.

He nominated Gerald Ford (who just happened to be a key member on the Warren Commission). Another DERP plant who fortunately only lasted two years in office. But then we got the tennis playing peanut farmer Jimmah Carter.
