I do recall Victory at Sea on television in the 1960s.
Had an uncle who was in most of the major S Pacific amphibious operations. Never heard him talk about any of them. Mother, his sister, talked about him being in them. No real detail though.
My dad was in the Phillipines, then moved to Europe after the battle of the Bulge. He never had much to say about what happened on the battlefield. I’m sure that it was horrible.
