Banks accused of speculating on foreign exchange
"Cargill Inc and Deutsche Bank AG are among a group of major foreign companies under investigation in Taiwan for allegedly speculating on the surging local currency last year, hindering the central bank’s efforts to rein in a rampant foreign-exchange market."
"...>Cargill and Louis Dreyfus Co were involved, along with Deutsche Bank, Citigroup Inc, JPMorgan Chase & Co and Standard Chartered PLC, said people with knowledge of the matter, who asked not to be identified because they are not authorized to speak publicly."
And, while most of you were not watching, Communist China has purchased massive amounts of US corn.
Some pundits are using the term, “cornering the market”.
US farmers are happy but gasoline refiners are skittish.
I’m no fan of EtOH in gasoline but, with that much corn in CCP hands and crude supplies predicted to slow, refinery blends will be hand-cuffed and gasoline pump prices will likely rise quickly and steeply when the summer-blend comes around.
And, that change-over, folks, is a FEDERAL regulation.
