America’s Military Is The Best In The World

Conservatives and patriots understandably have great affinity for the United States military. It has historically won great victories that have both advanced liberty abroad and protected it at home. For close to 80 years, it has been beyond question the most advanced and powerful fighting force on planet Earth. Relative to its potential adversaries, the American armed forces of the past few decades could arguably be the most powerful military that has ever existed in any country at any time in world history.

Most conservatives also instinctively, and understandably, see the military as a reservoir of traditional and conservative values. Sometimes, when conservatives darkly contemplate the possibility that left-wing extremists may try to overthrow the rights of Americans, they console themselves with the thought that the invincible U.S. military will be on “our side.”

Not really. Army has been letting their weight standards slide for a long time. As far back as Desert Storm in fact. As a larger organization, they keep standards low to keep people in. I personally was involved in ending the service of a number of Sailors, Officer and Enlisted, who did not meet standards. I am not a hard ass it was just my job. When I was 50 and nearing the end of my service, it was a bitch to make weight and body fat. But I did it, twice a year, and I am paying for it now.

All that said, it seems that since Army Generals have taking the helm at DOD the standards across the board are really bad. This was my bone with Mattis, I thought he would push for better weight, fitness and uniform standards. He was to busy being mad that Trump wanted to end wars and ban trannies. Went on base last month and was greeted by a 20 something Marine Corporal with his belly overlapping his belt. There are always a few overweight people, but they should never be the Marine checking IDs at the gate. That is the first impression entering the gate. I also saw a Marine Colonel (he was parked in O6 parking) in his PT gear, he was huge. How the hell does he discipline his Marines. I know he was a Marine by the PT gear he wore. Navy have their own gear even when we PT with Marines.

This is just the tip of the ice berg The problems run much deeper in the military. They have dumped weight standards and want to completely eliminate standards for IT and technical types. Of course it is not going to hurt moral when real warfighter have to maintain weight standards and have fewer opportunities for promotion. Why did the Navy have so many ship board leaders relived over the last few years. I have seen a very senior Colonel in the brig for child porn and apparently molesting a minor. I saw a SgtMaj relieved for the same thing and a Master Gunnery Sergeant (E-9) caught in bed with a Corporal in the barracks. Hell, you're an E-9 get a hotel room! Chiefs, Senior Chiefs and CMC's relived and retired. The Marines could not understand why there was a 33% STD rate in the barracks and why the number of rapes seem to be on the rise. Oh, I do not know, maybe putting type A females in a room surround by young hormone driven Type A males may have been the problem. Oh No! That could not be it because by not segregating male and female barracks we build team work. (Actual response to my question) No dumb asses you created an STD factory. I retired from DOD in 2017, lots of good Marines and Sailors, but way too many who never should have made it out of boot camp. Political correctness is rampant in the military. Do not expect them to be conservative they are generally self centered millennial's in a uniform. Older enlisted and younger officers tend to be conservative but everything is PC driven now.
