Subway describes its tuna sandwich as “freshly baked bread” layered with “flaked tuna blended with creamy mayo then topped with your choice of crisp, fresh veggies.” It’s a description designed to activate the saliva glands — and separate you from your money.
It’s also fiction, at least partially, according to a recent lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The complaint alleges the ingredient billed as “tuna” for the chain’s sandwiches and wraps contains absolutely no tuna.
A representative of Subway said the claims are without merit. Not only is its tuna the real deal, the company says, but it’s wild-caught, too.
The star ingredient, according to the lawsuit, is “made from anything but tuna.” Based on independent lab tests of “multiple samples” taken from Subway locations in California, the “tuna” is “a mixture of various concoctions that do not constitute tuna, yet have been blended together by defendants to imitate the appearance of tuna,” according to the complaint.

Ever heard of a Bottlenose Dolphin?
Probably pretty hard to see out of submarine windows. :)
I should ....I could become an honorary Indian ......
Like many here I’m not a fan of subway over better sandwich joints
For instance Jimmu John’s is better....not best ....but their tuna salad is better too
I get that tuna slim they have a fair amount....it’s higher quality tuna salad but it’s drier
If you drive around the mid south and mid west and Deep South like I do you stop at loves or pilot or TA and usually your choice for fast food in of course McDs, Arby’s, Pizza Hut, Burger King and maybe Dairy Queen or some weird chicken outfit
My kids want McDs
I prefer subway to that almost any day....
The average local owned Italian joint has better sandwiches
I probably eat Jersey Mikes when I want a real sub....real sub to me
We also have Schlotzkys which I like ...Texas originally...speaking off which central Texas has a slew of Czech food stops at truck stops and interstate exits from Waxahatchie to Houston that are excellent for sandwiches and pirogue type rolls and of course pastries.....excellent....and I mean I never drive thru without stopping at one about 40 miles south of Dallas...
I grew up on po boys
Mom made them....south Mississippi...Jackson...common sandwich there
But they are messy
Especially roast beef with debris.....has to have debris
Oh and prayers brother.
“Forget it, Jake - it’s the Northern District of California...”
#43 “Subway restaurants to remove foamed plastics ingredient from bread”
I knew the taste had changed. Not as tasty now.
But what did they replace the plastic with?.... : )
That is my wife.....she does that..she eats avocado daily ....she likes taste and texture
I don’t mind guacamole except the breath
My favorite is avocado sliced in tortilla soup
Tortilla soup is another food of which there is tortilla soup crap and tortilla soup excellent
Depends on the joint
El Palenque in Nashville is best....no question
The old one at green hills if still there is top shelf
Ditto to JJ’s and Panerai as well..
NEVER have had a bad sandwich at Subway. Fast & courteous service, friendly staff.
seafood salad in an avocado is very refreshing, I discovered this in France but it was made with shrimp, squeeze of lemon on top... very refreshing.
Who can I sue?
I am very sorry to hear of your condition and hope you can maintain your good health for as long as possible. You can probably still jump on the asbestos lawsuit band wagon. I know others who have and received a payout.
I still have sheets of asbestos in my basement that I use for heat shields when I am soldering copper pipes. I typically wear a dust mask when I am using them. You can't get them anymore, obviously, so I treat them like gold. I did lots of welding and grinding while I was working as a millwright, and my work as a firefighter for decades also abused my lungs. My lung capacity is a fraction of what it once was but I have no idea what to blame because I have been involved in too many risky activities. My guess is that the silicon from grinding wheels and the wood dust from wood working operations have done the most damage. But I was also exposed to dangerous levels of harmful chemical vapors whenI was leading a Hazmat team... so who knows? I have made it longer than a lot of my forefathers and relatives who were killed doing hazardous duty or died from cancer or heart disease, so I feel lucky for every day that God gives me.
They make that from tuna.
Yes avocado is frequently associated with ceviche too
Especially in Mexico
How much have they been relieved of by their own counsel to boot? And has he/she done much of anything to earn it trying to get this predicament resolved or just piddled around as the months fly by?
Flipper is not a dolphin
—
I never made that claim. But the animal was a mammal, a porpoise. Not a fish.
Flipper is not a dolphin
—
Actually I was wrong claiming he was a porpoise - on looking it up Flipper was played by 3 Dolphins: Mitzi, Little Bit, and Mr. Gipper.
You were wrong but maybe we both learned something.
here’s how to tell the difference
https://www.diffen.com/difference/Dolphin_vs_Porpoise
Note: neither are fish, but marine mammals related to whales
asbestos works, just cut it, dont tear it.
Probably pollock or menhaden
Tuna flavored cat food?
We also have Schlotzkys which I like ...Texas originally...
******
They have been thru changes over the years also.

We like Firehouse Subs. Jersey Mikes is great but pricier.
We live in a Rural town with two Subway Locations. I only go there when they have a two for one special or another good Deal.
To get Firehouse or Jersey Mikes we have to drive 80 Miles South to Baton Rouge.
