WESTERLY, R.I. (WPRI) — A Rhode Island brewery has slightly changed their beer-making process, and environmentalists are probably pretty “hoppy” about it.
Grey Sail Brewing in Westerly is now capturing carbon dioxide instead of releasing into the atmosphere.
“Last year, we brewed 9,000 barrels of beer,” Alan Brinton of Grey Sail Brewing said. (For reference, there are two kegs of beer in each barrel.)
Alan and his wife, Jennifer, run the brewery out of the former Westerly Macaroni Manufacturing Company building on Canal Street. They brewed their first batch of beer in 2011.
“Captain’s Daughter is really the beer that put us on the map,” Alan said.
The brewery makes at least a dozen different kinds of beer, including a coffee stout and their Rising Hope IPA.
Grey Sail said all of the proceeds from Rising Hope are given to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

Lotta these microbreweries are save the planet types.
And ridiculously priced.
Can't fault them for that.
yes...and they all suck! Every.Last.One. I actually had to point out to some hipster wannabe kid that in 100 years, no one would know that the over-hopped beer he was drinking ever existed, while I was drinking beer that was formulated 150 years ago. Needless to say, he didn’t get my point!
Has to effect the books.
I’m frankly getting sick of hearing about environmentally friendly. So, are electric cars environmentally friendly? Studies say no. A gallon of the alcohol in gas costs the energy equivalent of a gallon and a half of real gas to make. When I took thermo in college the (for real) scientist who taught it had the class work through the physics, chemistry and economics of every much vaunted alternative energy solution. All of them were terrible compared to gas and coal. We have been inundated with bad data and propaganda.
Now, every time I see “environmentally friendly” I see virtue signaling.
Yep, a tax write-off masked as a honorable charitable donation. What Dems call a loophole for the rich :)
Plants like CO2.

See how this BS works?
The CO2 aint going away *burp*
Isn’t that special, maybe all the scum bag libs fleeing NYC will buy up your suds, doubt it.
Westerly is dying all it has going for it is the Yacht Club and those peep all go to WPB for winter(and run down bars @ Misquamicut)

I’m guessing that potato joe ill be going after every industry that produces CO2.
Perhaps this company foresees this coming in the future, and is trying to not get run out of business.
It’s all a rouse, just make it the way it’s always been made.
Why fidget with the recipe?
Well, I’m just worried that potato joe will come after my job.
I’ve been making malt for Coors for the last 20+ years.
CO2 is a natural byproduct in malting.
CO2 is natural period!!
