Ok I’m dense.
What does scanning a QR code do for the retailer?
Why are they asking this?
I think BassPro/Cabela’s are exorbitant in their pricing of everything FWIW.
They are making people register. You go on a list of people looking for a gun.
The QR code launches a web site where you put your name, it can just be Your first name and last initial if you want, And your phone number. You are added to a queue, when it is your turn at the counter, your name is called out, if you don’t answer, you will be called on the phone number you gave, this allows you to shop elsewhere in the store. No other data is gathered, when you have been called, you are deleted from the Queue. It’s nothing more than that, stand in line for 45 minutes or join the queue and walk around, what would you rather do?

It almost sounds like they are getting his phone to install an app, which will often demand it be allowed access to everything from the microphone, to pictures, to call records, to GPS coords. But most people probably have no idea what it is doing, and think it is like providing ID or something.
That is messed up.
More and more, I am thinking something big is coming down the line, and very soon.
