Well, if we want to get into the Pete Rose debate, we all know why Pete was banned from baseball. Pete will be in the Hall of Fame at the point where he is no longer banned.

Baseball writers have nothing to do with Pete Rose's absence from the Hall of Fame. The bylaws of the HOF preclude someone who has been banned by MLB from being enshrined there.

I suspect Pete Rose's "lifetime ban" will be lifted by a commissioner in the future after he passes away.
