For the first time since 1960 -- and just the seventh time since the first election in 1936 -- the National Baseball Hall of Fame will not have a new group of electees in 2021. Yet because the Class of 2020’s induction was pushed back a year by the coronavirus pandemic, there will still be entrants welcomed into the hallowed Hall this summer.
The Baseball Writers’ Association of America announced Tuesday night on MLB Network that none of the 25 players on the 2021 ballot received at least 75 percent of votes -- the threshold required for entry. Starting pitcher Curt Schilling came closest at 71.1 percent.

This is the first time since 2013 that the BBWAA did not elect anyone. With the Era Committee elections having been postponed until next winter because of the pandemic, 2021 has pitched a shutout.
That leaves the 2020 class -- Derek Jeter and Larry Walker from the BBWAA ballot, and Ted Simmons and the late Marvin Miller from the Modern Baseball Era committee vote -- to have its own induction, as would have been the case had the pandemic not intervened...

Former players will be the ultimate judge, as it should be. I won’t allow a group of morally bankrupt frauds another year to lie about my life.
MLB: No interest from me since 1994.
This is all about giving Dereck Jeter :)
His day in the sunshine.
Meanwhile the flyin' Hawaiian, Shane Victorino, got zero votes in his first year on the ballot. I didn't realize he had been retired long enough to be on the ballot.
They could induct Rick Monday.
Shilling is a Trump supporter therefore he’s to be cancelled. In 9 years on the ballot he averaged enough votes that he was an almost certain
inductee this year. But he’s an outspoken Trump supporter and the majority of the voters are of course liberals. He was at 70 votes last year, only five votes away with the magic number of 75. He picked up 1.1 votes this year. He has asked to be taken off next years voting. He knows what’s going on. He’s asking to be considered by the Old Times Committee. For some reason he trust them. I don’t.
I was hoping Curt Schilling would be elected. Alas.... no.
Lot’s of exceptional players kept out due to performance-enhancing drugs (that’s fine with me); one kept out due to political correctness (that’s not).
Nice to see Mark Buerhle cross the 5% threshold; now if only the veteran’s committee would do right by Minnie Minoso.
Used to love watching my Cardinals, but gave it up with all the BLM nonsense. It’s a shame. Liberals ruin everything.
