I am sorry, I read through all of the posts in the thread while trying to put myself in you or my elderly parents place. There was some good advice given, but I am not sure that I or anyone else provided much that you probably found to be of much help.
You are certainly not alone. The majority of people in our society do not “WANT” to spend the time, energy, or have the patience to figure out how to perform even the relatively simple tasks that you want accomplished.
Hopefully you will find someone who can give you some hands on help where you live. You do need to be very, very careful about who you choose. If you conduct any of your financial life using your computer, as most of us now do... anyone who is given access to your accounts and passwords along with your computer will basically have the ability to fleece you completely. That is why depending on your age and level of aptitude it is often worth devoting effort into becoming more computer savvy. Good luck with what you are hoping to accomplish.
Thank you for understanding. I use my computer minimally for financial issues. I am one of the dying few who go to the bank.
The level of expertise required for setting up a VPN or a transfer from one email system to another is just more than I want to try. I have and it is complicated. And I freeze thinking that I will lose my data.
