'The trial is stupid': Senate Republicans throw cold water on Trump impeachment (IMPEACHMENT HELD HOSTAGE - DAY 39)

Several Republican senators on Sunday discouraged suggestions that the chamber could convict former President Donald Trump in his upcoming impeachment trial.

"Well first of all, I think the trial is stupid," Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., told "Fox News Sunday." "I think it's counterproductive. We already have a flaming fire in this country and [impeachment is] taking a bunch of gasoline and pouring it on top of the fire."

Rubio added he believes Trump "bears responsibility for some of what happened" during the deadly riots at the Capitol earlier this month but that he does not believe impeachment is the right way to address the matter. He also said it would be "arrogant" to say that Trump should be barred from running for office again.

"The first chance I get to vote to end this trial I will do it because I think it's bad for America," he said. "If you want to hold people accountable there's other ways to do it, particularly for president."

Rubio said impeachment will "make it harder to get important things done and it's just going to continue to fuel these divisions that have paralyzed the country and have turned us into a country of people that hate each other."

A Congressional Research Service report released this week noted that although the Constitution does not explicitly say whether a former president can be impeached, scholars "who have closely examined the question have concluded that Congress has authority to extend the impeachment process to officials who are no longer in office."

Start with Hussein.

I have closely examined the question and have concluded that Congress does not have authority to extend the impeachment process to officials who are no longer in office.

So there!

Stupid and pointless.

He isn’t responsible for that the rioters did.

"Rubio added he believes Trump 'bears responsibility for some of what happened'..."

Rubio's use of clear hindsight to blame Donald Trump is stupid, too. President Trump didn't say or even imply that anyone should trespass or riot.

Nancy Piglosi encouraged the rioters who took over the Wisconsin capitol in 2011, She should be in prison.

Trump "bears responsibility for some of what happened" during the deadly riots at the Capitol earlier this month

The quote stops but NBC adds on additional comments of their own to make the story more negative.

No surprise, of course...but still irritating.

This really bugs me. Why?

Because these so-called Constitutional "researching" nut jobs can see a penumbra in impeaching a past president, however when the Constitution was in the process of working at the point where the seven states with double electors needed to be settled and they had the one Senator who objected which actually began the debate process to settle those double set of electors, what did numskull Pence do? Instead of pausing the proceeding like he should have, he asked the Congressional parliamentarian what he should do and the guy told him to certify, which was totally unConstitutional.

Those Constitutional researchers can see fit to say President Trump could use and old-fashioned impeachment, but they can't spare a few brain cells to follow the Constitution correctly when it is really needed?

What the hell good are they?

Well, Hussein is praised as a cold blooded “proper schizoïd”.

People wanted real life, real warmness. This is why even Trump’s awkward tweets were such a breath of fresh air and nice.

But to The cold callous schizo DC swamp which hates personality and loves its Nazi cold boots (while sheistering people into believing government is a nice warm beast like the dragon in Shreck) , Trump tweets and angry trumpsters is a nono.

Even the effing military brass is acting indignant lately, like a bunch of fools who have no respect for sacrifice of a soldier’s family and personality for the country’s own.

I do not care if people tell me Trump made an act and was neurotic, what counts is that the sincerity of the echo with the people is what they really want to murder.

Exactly. He bears no responsibility.

Trump did say something I've not heard discussed. He acknowledged these Americans were angry that their election had been stolen.

Yes we are. It's an anger against gross injustice. And it's not going away any time soon. And now the dems want to destroy our beloved president by convicting him of a false charge -- fomenting insurrection. This is why they have troops in DC -- to protect their ill-gotten gain.

Subverting the will of the American people -- when they lawfully voted and reelected Donald Trump -- will have dire consequences.

Sen. Marco Rubio, who do you blame for the Antifa riots which are still on going? Which Democratic Congress person?

Seems very odd that he did not know what he was going to do in that circumstance well before January 6.

It seems so odd that I believe that he did know what he was going to do.

Anyone paying attention to the way things were going knew that it was likely to happen. Pence is not that oblivious to the political winds. How could he be.

It is not un Constitutional.

It's language/logic/critical thinking abuse.

Impeachment is a political act against a politician.

If zhou bay din is a legitimate president, Donald J Trump is a bona fide civilian.

You don't impeach civilians.

And every EO the imposter just signed was HELLywood for public school drop outs AND high honors graduates.
