Thank you everybody for your kind wishes and prayers. My dog died peacefully, and is out of her pain.
So sad for you. I’m an evangelical Christian and, unlike many, I believe there’s a good chance we’ll have our beloved pets in Heaven with us. Mom believes that, too — a Baptist preacher’s wife for 50 years. Nothing says we won’t.
One day at a time.
Biff,
My deepest sympathies go to you.
I don’t know if you’re a Christian or not, but if you are please get a copy of a book called Animals And Christianity by Linzey and Regan.
This book includes selections from the following: the Bible, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Augustine, Karl Barth, St. Bonaventure, John Calvin, René Descartes, Austin Farrer, John Hick, St. Irenaeus, St. John of the Cross, C. S. Lewis, St. Thomas More, E. F. Schumacher, Albert Scheweitzer, Paul Tillich, Leo Tolstoy, Alec Vidler, John Wesley, and others.
The article by C. S. Lewis was the easiest for me to understand. It made it clear to me that I’ll be reunited with my dogs in Heaven.
Here’s the Amazon link, but you could probably find it elsewhere: https://smile.amazon.com/Animals-Christianity-Readings-Andrew-Linzey/dp/1556356889/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3A2XLG9N84DC9&dchild=1&keywords=animals+and+christianity&qid=1611618791&sprefix=animals+and+ch%2Caps%2C188&sr=8-1
I am so sorry.
After my first dog died, it took me 20 years to get another one.
Take some time, but don’t wait that long.
Prayers for you.
