Yes, he’s a grappler, not the most exciting style for me either but no one has been able to withstand his takedowns.
Yeah I’ve seen a couple of his bouts now, definitely a good grappler. I just like stand up tough man competition like fights myself, like I. The days of the pride fightin g league, aside from the few wrestlers there, mostly they were brawlers, with the toughest brawler being the victor. But man was it brutal 😆.
I see more and more fighters these days moving to ground game, while I can appreciate a great grappler every so often, I just don’t like the trend of fighting to be moving in that direction. Jab jab jab takedown. Jab leg kick, jab, takedown. Not for me, at .east not when the majority of bouts are like that.
There is another league, a bit lower than ufc, where the folks go when they aren’t big money draws anymore, can’t remember the league, and most of those bouts now are wrestling. I do record those, but end up ff through most of them.
Khabib is quite good though. I’ve followed a few great danverous jujitsu and wrestlers like Damien Mia, and others, but my preference is for stand-up brawls.
I guess if one is going to be champ, they have to learn to defend against wrestlers too, but I’d just like to see 2 titles maybe, one for wrestlers, ground experts, which I would follow too just to see who truly shines, and one for brawlers. But that would not real.y be feasible I guess.
