Norwegian Cruise Line will require crew members to get the COVID-19 vaccine before boarding as sailings continue to be pushed back

Norwegian Cruise Line and its Regent Seven Seas Cruises brand will be asking all of its crew members to receive the COVID-19 vaccine prior to boarding, the cruise companies' spokespeople told Insider in an email statement.

However, one glimmer of hope shines at the end of the no-sail tunnel: the COVID-19 vaccine.

"We are exploring all options regarding vaccinations for guests and crew and it is our intention that all crew members be vaccinated before boarding our vessels to begin their duties, subject to availability of the vaccine," Norwegian and Regent Seven Seas' statements read. "We will continue to partner with global and domestic authorities and the Healthy Sail Panel, our team of leading expert advisors, to explore all options necessary to protect guests, crew and the communities visited."

Norwegian's other brand, Oceania, did not immediately respond to a comment asking if it will be taking the same crew member vaccination requirement approach.

UK cruise company Saga — which targets passengers that are at least 50-years-old — announced it would be requiring all passengers to receive the vaccine two weeks before boarding, a spokesperson said on Thursday.

Several other cruising companies — such as Carnival and its Holland America line — are "reviewing" different vaccines, but have not announced any decisions regarding mandatory vaccinations for its passengers, according to emails sent to Insider from Carnival and Holland America.

Even with the news of a vaccine, as of now, some experts don't have high hopes for the quick resumption of cruising. According to a note obtained by Barron's, Patrick Scholes, an analyst at Truist Securities, believes July may be the best time for cruises to resume, although later in 2021 is more promising.

However, the full-fledged return of cruising still remains to be seen.

The same people here who want to force a vax also seem to believe that they can deny us the RKBA even if the weapon is locked in a vehicle in the workplace parking lot.

Business is a means to an end - to provide income for individuals to support families. I do not ask to carry a weapon in the office, proselytize in the office, or take care of personal stuff on company time. Business pays me for services and goods and has no right to impose future health liability on me (especially for an experimental vax). They can ask me to wear a mask or work in a bubble but not take genetic treatment which affects me while I am not at work, post-employment or during my retirement.

I am starting to wish ill upon people who take the vaxx and insist that the rest of us do as well. I starting to hope that you all get maximum negative side effects from it. If you do, I hope the medical care is not covered by insurance and also drains your personal bank accts, that you get zero compensation etc.

The problem is you can come down with Covid within a few months of getting over it. -Tom

Assuming you actually had it the first time, maybe. If so, then most likely the vaccine wouldn’t be helpful either.

The comments about the immunity being short, as I recall, were based on not knowing, not it being known to be so.

excerpt From Cleveland Medical help
Dr. Esper explains.
“It’s very premature to make the assumption that just because you had COVID-19 that you’re safe from it.

I don’t think anyone wants to be infected with COVID-19, whether it’s the first time or the second time or the third time — nobody wants it.

Your previous infection may prevent you from getting sick, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t become infected and then spread it to others. You might think you’re safe because your antibodies are there, but if you’re still able to spread it to others for a short period of time, that’s doing no one any good either.”

Dr. Esper adds that being infected once is not a hall pass to ignore all of the protocols put in place — masking, hand washing and physical distancing. If anything, to protect yourself and others, you need to stay on top of those recommendations.

Yep. That sure looks like a cautionary “we don’t know and aren’t assuming” statement, rather than a statement of evidence that immunity does not come with recovering from infection.

Please delete my post #21. Was rather irritated with some posters, but truly do not wish anyone ill from cv19, the cv19 vaxx or anything else. Per JR’S request today about civility.

Thank you.
