What does the US Constitution say about removing a president who is out of office?
And who presides over this farce? The Constitution says the Chief Justice will preside over a trial of the "president". BUT TRUMP is now a private citizen. Joe Biden is president.
Spot on. Which is why I don’t believe they have anything near the requisite votes to convict.
The word ‘secession’ is not provided for in the Constitution, therefore unconstitutional by definition. For a state to secede, a constitutional amendment is required.
The same applies to ‘impeachment’ for non-office holders.
Men and women have gonads. Men, testicles. Women, ovaries.
If 2/3 is reached because 17 Republican Senators voted to convict, it is the end of the GOP.
That might be true, it probably is true - but Trump was impeached when he was in office.
They are trying awfully hard to become the new Whig party.
Are you sure of that?
Why not they have already gone through the Mugwump stage:
The most famous political fence sitters were the Mugwumps, a group of Republicans who supported a Democratic candidate in the 1884 US election. ... They were described by their opponents as birds sitting on a fence, with their mug on one side and their wump on the other.
LOL! Sounds about right.
Since I've posted numerous times on this thread I not sure to what you are referring. When posting I try to Italicize the the content to which I'm responding.
LOL That sounds pretty pompous, doesn't it.
Exactly. She should be required to re use.
TY. Sometimes the term ‘impeachment’ is used in the context of the full impeachment process =impeachment vote + trial.
It is however important to be precise with terms at least for education and avoidance of misunderstandings.
The sentence should have been written:
The same applies to ‘any part of the impeachment process’ for non-office holders
Mitch McConnell for one. Now you only have to find 16 more so called Republicans to convict.
"To 8"
Nice. In context your comment made me chuckle. However people are telling me that women have nads. I guess I should have said balls, but your comment would still be appropriately funny.
I wish you were right, but two things:
1) "The Senate shall have the power to try ALL impeachments"
2) How much the GOP lusts to prevent a return in 2024.
To be honest, I would call Nancy Pelosi. She demanded that Pense remove Trump under the 25th amendment OR she would impeach him. So theres quid pro quo threat in attempted coup de’tat to overthrown a duly elected. President. Why is that not considered political insurrection, and an abuse of her office?
So did Nixon, but the left’s vicious hate hadn’t built up to where it is now. If Ford hadn’t pardoned him, I think someone in the Justice Department might have tried to charge him with something.
“The excuse for impeaching William W. Belknap was that he resigned for the purpose of evading impeachment.”
