A father taking showers with a daughter who is old enough to stand up and take a shower herself is, by definition, sexual abuse. She doesn’t need to see her father’s adult genitals.
I wrote a law review comment on sexual abuse (arguing against using “repressed memories” of child abuse to sue a woman’s father, uncle, what have you, who uncovers these memories during therapy, as evidence in a legal case against the man.
Not reliable evidence, I argued.
My comment was cited by a State Supreme Court and in many trials. More importantly, I received dozens of personal letters who were able to use my article to defend themselves from allegations of abuse.
The thing is, you can never recover from an accusation of sexual abuse. If that gets out, a man’s name is forever tarnished.
