I followed all those years and when it started coming out, I got the impression Marta aided and abetted him in his addiction. I know the housekeeper was also involved. Anyway if that is the case IMO you can’t truly love someone when you do that.

Maybe aided and abetted him..... On the other hand, maybe she stuck by him until she couldn’t take it any more. People in the throes of additction are often very dishonest with themselves as well as everyone else in their close circle. I am happy that he finally overcame his pain meds addiction and found true love with Kathryn.
