I am so glad I put this up here. Honestly these are some good ideas and I will call hospice tomorrow but in order to get hospice you need a doctor to order it and in order to do that you need to see a doctor and she will not leave the house.

This post is very beautiful and I wanted to say thank you for these very beautiful thoughts and I will go do them starting right now.

Call your mom’s PC. They should do an order for hospice without her coming in.

A person can “graduate” from hospice, it’s not always the end of life care that we’re used to. Call her doctor and tell him what’s happening, tell him you want hospice. They will/can send someone in for hours each day to give you some rest from caring for her. It does get stressful, my brother and I cared for my Dad for 6 months and it was tough for even two people.

My wife was helping out an elderly neighbor lady that just passed away. Same thing happened. She died in her home surrounded by loved ones. They were all thankful that she was able to live at home until the end. They only allow one visitor a day at the hospital.

She did have a nurse come in 3x a week to check on things, she was on an oxygen tank for the last month. But it was so sad to see her dwindle away. But she was talking and could hold a conversation up until the last two days.

Blessings to you and your mother.

If she already has a doctor, just call the doctor and ask her/him to put your mother on hospice. The doc knows what shape she’s in. I did this for my husband. It took only one hone call.

If you are insistent on making her eat, you might want to put some B vitamins in her food or drink. Someone else above mentioned grinding them up for his father and putting them in his food. Maybe you can get B vitamins in liquid form. B vitamins make you hungry.

And my final and most important advice is to keep her calm. Do not try to force her to do anything. Be happy around her. Rub lotion on her hands and feet if she will let you and likes it. Comb her hair. Let her guide you in your ministrations. And if she wants to sleep, let her sleep.

God is in control, all is well dear one.
