My guess is that they would have been embarrassed when no one showed up for Biden’s sham presidency inauguration so its better to have a bunch of National Guard there instead.

My guess is these troops will be a permanent feature. They are also talking a permanent wall around the capitol. I would not rule out mass arrests of Trump supporters and administration officials. I think this is effectively a coup d’etat. DC is about to become Baghdad on the Potomac complete with its own green zone.
