That’s interesting. My favorite cousin, practically my best friend, was a Sergeant First Class, platoon leader, I almost never see him turn the Sergeant act on, except towards a few children behaving very badly. :-) He said he mostly left it at the office when he came home.
My husband’s x-wife let him get away with it. :-) The one thing he has always said though is that no matter how mad he gets he will never hit a woman. It took him a long time to mellow out but I’m very mellow so it worked out. He was VERY high strung when we met with a hair trigger temper. We knew each other for six years before we got married so I knew by then I didn’t need to be afraid of him. We’ve been married 36 years. He’s 16 years older than I am. I was in my 20’s when we married and he was in his 40’s. I think the turning point came one day when he was blowing up and said “I think what we have here is a communication gap”. I bowed up, all 5’3” and 110 pounds of me soaking wet and said “no, I think what we have here is a generation gap”.
He didn’t give me much trouble after that. 😁
