In today’s America, the wise person willfully suspends belief

The news raining down upon us is a narrative devoid of believable facts.

In 2007, then-Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton deemed it necessary to “willfully suspend disbelief” to accept General David Petraeus’ progress report on the Iraq war. In 2021, it seems necessary for the American people to willfully suspend belief in our government institutions, the media, and their corporate overlords.

The body politic is putrid and lashing out with the most disgusting displays of immorality, deceit, and coercion. Entertainment, education, social media, and the MSM ‘watchdogs of democracy’ are now the defenders, recruiters, and propagandists for this sick, bloated, and festering bureaucracy.

Twenty years ago, I believed most of what came over the nation’s airwaves. Ten years ago, I was becoming quite the skeptic. Today, after years of unrelenting attacks on the President, I don’t believe any of it.

It’s all lies, half-truths, and misinformation, designed to influence elections and steer the collective mentality toward accepting the loss of freedom, the loss of constitutional rights and, eventually, to embrace communist ideas and authoritarian policies. I’m not sure when it all went south, but I think it was probably long before I first became aware that there was a problem.

Fifty years ago, it seemed outrageous that the government would create laws requiring people to wear seat belts or to purchase auto insurance to be able to drive. Today, the debate is about forcing people to stay in their homes, wear masks, and allowing the government to inject them with “vaccines.” Where is the outrage? Oh, it’s all for “our protection.” Well, OK then.

To stay out of jail, I’ll wear the mask where it’s required but I won’t be getting the vaccine and Joe Biden is not my President.

The media all seem to be employed by Pravda.

The Soviet leaders wished Pravda was as loyal to the party as the MSM is to the democrats.

Remember who the real enemy is, folks. It is the rank and file democrat party voter.

This article sums up what I believe.

The only good that I have learned in the last three months is what happened with Fox News. We stopped watching and they are paying the price.

If we stop, or even reduce - on an even larger scale - buying from Amazon, posting, liking, and commenting to social media, use cash or a credit card that does not discriminate, don’t watch networks or channels that spew propaganda, we WILL make a difference.

But most importantly, we need to get involved. Make the phone calls, write the letters, support candidates on the LOCAL, and regional levels.

“Remember who the real enemy is, folks. It is the rank and file democrat party voter.”

I think many regular democrat voters are simply ignorant of American history and civics. The public schools stopped teaching it. Ask any 10-year-old why we celebrate the 4th of July.

An early step, once patriots regain power, should be to restore history in the public schools - no more “social studies.”

I disagree, the real enemy is the Ministry of Propaganda and the Ministry of Education.

Followed closely by the Uniparty.

Great article.

Too bad AT is no longer allowing comments. I guess it’s the same reason as the USPS uprooting mailboxes...to keep something bad from happening.

".... once patriots regain power...."

Surely you jest?

Now that the democRATS can steal elections with no consequences and have their way with the country turning it into their communist utopia, the "patriots" will never have a chance again.

The Republic will be lost forever before we have a crack at it again. Trump was our last, best hope to keep it and we have given it up without so much as a fight.

My thoughts on something a high school teacher in 1960 told us..
He said that most small towns have two grocery stores, two hardware stores, two dime stores, two of other stores, so they can claim there is NO monopoly in that town.
Then they have private “under the table” handshakes to not undercut each other and keep their prices high.

In the last few decades I believe the Republicans and Democrats have done the same thing, to share power and not undercut each other. Republicans have the Presidency for a few terms, then the Democrats. The President has already been chosen by them before hand and the election is just a formality.
Why else would a party run a strong candidate and the opposite party always run a weak candidate.

In the 2016 election Hillary was deemed the President and all polls showed she would win. The magazines were already printed of her winning so there was no need to cheat.

Then the voters spoke and Trump won throwing all their power sharing plans into a cocked hat. They could not let that happen again!
The 2020 election was rigged so the Democrats got their candidate elected to be President by fraud.

He will be just a figurehead President as others will make decisions for him.

What else can be shown by both parties for their hatred of Trump?

“”Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton deemed it necessary to “willfully suspend disbelief” to accept General David Petraeus’ progress report on the Iraq war.””

I remember that as she sat in front of the General after the “General Betray Us” moniker was applied to him. I didn’t understand what “suspending disbelief” meant that day nor do I now. The inclination is to NOT believe someone so why not just say it?

“”to allow oneself to believe that something is true even though it seems impossible””

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/suspend%20(one‘s)%20disbelief

I remember being very disgusted with her “performance” at that hearing and thinking it was very insulting to a four star general but then the woman didn’t know any other way to behave. Later I learned that she and the general were great drinking buddies so I came around to not caring if she insulted him!

“”Republicans have the Presidency for a few terms, then the Democrats.””

For the fun of it, I listed the presidents since I was born (FDR) and when you list them all, you will see how they fall in your scenario. Democrat/Republican/Democrat/Republican
ad infinitum.. With intervening natural death, (didn’t have enough of those) assassination, resignation and not winning reelection, your pattern stays true - a president dies or resigns, the party retains the presidency until the next election or in Truman’s and LBJ’s cases, they won their own election..

I probably made that more confusing than it needed to be but for anyone who wants a diversion, here’s a good link:

It's not over yet. Trump is president until noon on Wednesday.

He still has two days to declare martial law.
