I received a card in the mail today called an Economic Impact Payment card.
It says "Here is your Economic Impact Payment Card enable by Money Network (c). It contains the money you are receiving from the U.S. Department of Treasury under the COVID-related Tax Relief Act of 2020.

I’m glad you found it helpful.
Come to think of it, I’m not sure there was a rhyme or reason for how they did things. A friend of mine got both the first and second payment as a paper check, so why they switched up with yours is a mystery!
I just got a check for $600 in the mail. Last time, it was direct deposit. I don’t understand why it came by mail this time.
Bizarre. I would take either of those. We both got checks last time. Kind of disappointed that they weren’t signed by President Dr. Trump. I was going to frame mine.
“they can capture your bank account information & clean you out.”
Little bit hysterical today, RTM?
I got mine today (which is weird because we didn’t get the first ones). It says
How to access your money:
1. Transfer to a Personal Bank Account
2. Cash withdrawal at a bank branch
3. Make purchases in-store, online or by phone
4. Get cash at surcharge-free ATMs
It would be impossible for them to tap your bank account using #2 to #4.
It is a “Legit” Treasury/IRS VISA Debt card as mentioned above...activate it and deposit at your bank/credit union teller.
Virgil: no direct deposit/debt card/check for us here yet...same bank/IRS direct deposit info. for 30 years...1st “stimulus” was direct deposit....crazy IRS probs I guess...news says “...problems with electronic tax filers that use large tax prep firms like H&R Block, TurboTax, TaxAct, etc....mixup by IRS between them and the tax firms...”. My question: why does IRS need tax firms to report direct deposit info. in the 1st place? IRS doesn’t keep my same direct dep. info. on file from the last 30 years!?!? Nuts!
“Just take it to your bank and they can transfer the balance to your regular account.”
This is the best way to do it. ^^^ I went on their website and transferred the money by “wire” into my bank savings account. This was last Sunday. To date the money has not been deposited into my bank account.
GREAT Q. NOT BY FEDGOV. By U of M. My next scheduled appt. IS NOT until July of 2022
Beware, only ONE “Fee-Free” ATM withdrawal allowed...then $2. per:
https://www.eipcard.com/cardholder-agreement
A “BTW” for all: “EIPcard” apparently stands for “Economic Impact Payment Card”...run by Treasury and “MetaBank” (MetaBank stands to make a lot in fees & Fed contract $ from this program...good lobbyists I guess!)
Thanks for the tip! My wife is headed down to the ATM right now. Our daily ATM limit was bumped up to $1,000 in December (the bank did it on their own without telling me!) so she should be able to get the $600 out now. I need to ask them to put the daily limit back to $200.
I received a check in the mail.
.
“One person here got the card-—but he got his prior stimulus deposits directly to his bank. That doesn’t sound right to me...I call scam.”
My prior stimulus payment was deposited directly to my bank but for reasons unknown, I got a card this time. I transferred it to my bank via the site shown on the accompanying paperwork. It took 48 hours for the money to appear in my checking account, but there was no scam.
Shouldn’t the card have $1200. on it? (”Married” filing “Joint” return?)
Might be legit but check it out. Since the payments were to be made based upon 2019 tax info, 10s of millions of tax returns were not processed ... I would assume that they were just thrown away to eliminate the backlog caused by the COVID scam. IRS employees sat around last year, at home or at the office, and played cards or whatever at full pay. I got a letter that my return had not been received, but they acknowledged that they had cashed the check. Had to send them a photocopy of the return. Please understand that some big bank is going to make hundreds of millions of dollars on those debit cards and fees.
Then why the cards for some, checks for others, and direct deposit? If I had gotten a card in the mail, I would have tossed it out too, because I trust very little these days.
My medical group better not be sending me any COVID texts, or I'll find other doctors to go to. Medicare sent me an email about the COVID vaccine, and I promptly deleted it. Perhaps I should unsubscribe. I don't read their freaking emails anyway.
I just got a stimulus check this week, no card. It sounds like that card is the next level, moving us into the Universal Basic Income phase of this game of Total Control. Everyone will eventually get a card that the government will load with your weekly payment if we don’t put a stop to it now.
They can KMA!
You need to get a printout from the atm machine before going into the bank so they can see what the current balance is and transfer or cash out the whole amount.
Not all....I was able to reactivate a 5 year old CA edd card and use to get COVID-19 related unemployment money.
