I recall reading an article a few years back, where some NFL teams (or maybe it was all of them), had someone give a talk to incoming drafted players, to educate them about the shortness of their upcoming careers, and not to squander their money.

Obviously, some choose not to listen.

When Wellington Mara was still alive the NY Giants held their training camp every summer at a small regional college in northern New Jersey. As part of the deal they had some arrangement where the players could enroll in the school for night classes. I seem to remember that a dozen or more players were enrolled at any given time, including a few in the MBA program who went on to have successful careers outside sports.
