50 miles from me. They put it up and dug out the canal after they got it up.

BTW, that is just the main span and not the whole bridge. The rest of it is/was incorporated into the newest bridge at London-those being the approaches, etc.

The next best thing to see there is wild donkeys on the shoreline.

Thanks for the clarification. The current London Bridge, of course, is infamous for an Islamikaze stabbing attack that occurred a few years ago.

Saw it this September. It was about 115 degrees so we didn’t get out and walk. Also enjoyed the vibes at Lake Havasu ...

There's a story I heard, from a fairly reliable source many years ago, that the guy who bought the London Bridge thought he was buying the Tower Bridge. When he realized he didn't buy the right bridge he set it up on cheap Arizona land having figured it was already a lost cause.

Tower Bridge:

London Bridge, in Arizona:

I was just there yesterday. That place has grown! I might be moving there.

Funny thing your post. I just watched a docu on the London Bridges yesterday. In a matter of fact.

Bets fish and chips ever in the micro brewery aside of that bridge-the right side just after you cross the bridge to the island.

GD virus! I want to go down and have some but..

Hope you like hot weather. Because the Colorado River Valley gets as hot and sometimes hotter than Death Valley. And with some humidity from the water.

Oh and dont believe the radio station temp reports-they lie.

I can nominate several heads that can be used to decorate the bridge, and lend a much needed sense of authenticity.

Yeah, I think that’s a 50 year old picture after it first opened.

That is another one of those demonstrably false apocryphal “Stupid rich American” stories. Mr. McCulloch knew exactly what he was buying.

I could have gotten them a better deal on a bridge in Brooklyn.

We used to go to boat races there before and after the bridge arrived. My husband crashed a time or two. We usually went during Thanksgiving when it was mostly windy but not boiling hot.

When the bridge came our company did some work on it and we ended up with a piece of granite from the bridge - that I think somehow got lost recently. It wasn’t much to look at anyway.
