Wow! Ray had the terrible accident and passed away in May 2020. Siegfried barely outlived him.

He was spiritually bonded with Roy, the other half of their highly skilled, very successful entertainment team.
Roy nearly died after that tiger mauling in 2003.
Physically, he was never the same. It must have been hard seeing your best friend slowly deteriorate over the years.

Nowadays, PETA would put the kabash to most similar acts that use animals. To me, the best circuses are the ones with bigger than life, wild animals. Acrobats in twisty positions (Cirque du Soleil) can only do so much for some watching from the balcony.

I could have sworn Roy had already died, and that Siegfried was the only one of the two alive. Once in a while I hear about the death of a celebrity where I could absolutely swear I had heard about them dying long before that. This one’s a little different, because I was certain that Roy had died a while back, yet apparently he is alive and Siegfried has just died.

Maybe it’s “glitches in the matrix.”

What is the source of your vitriolic hate?

I met him and interviewed the duo in 2000. Very nice, accommodating and funny.

I brought my wife as my assistant and she has always said it was one of her favorite Vegas things we ever did.

RIP.

As a side note, from 1999 to about 2004 we were also volunteers with a couple of big cat rescues in NV, AZ and CA and the two of them had an open heart and and open checkbook to help the rescue community. They will be missed.
