So I had an understanding that the local Academy Sports received its trucks on Mondays and Wednesdays so I headed over there this morning to stand in line to purchase some ammo.
The manager of the store came out and told us that the truck is due in tomorrow (Thursday) and that he has no ammo today.
THEN, he said that tomorrow's truck will be the last ammo resupply for him for several weeks. He said that ammo production has been halted as of last Friday (January 8th) due to two reasons : a couple of sources stopped due to COVID, but most have stopped due to an EO that has not been made public.
Anyone here heard of this?
Know where your nearest national guard armory is. They’ll have the good stuff.
“Know where your nearest national guard armory is. They’ll have the good stuff.”
Brings back memories of the Battle of Athens in Tennessee.

Several possiblities. 1. the manager is telling the truth, 2. the manager is lying to get everyone out of his hair, 3. I don’t buy the from Trump EO. Could be a pending EO from biden that Academy is anticipating.
Right. And you’d be heading about it if that’s what happened. I’ve never seen more fake news than I have in the last week. This is total complete BS.
“There will be huge anti 2A push when the demonicrats feel empowered.”
They feel empowered right now. Remember what happened in VA. The dimocrats finally won the state senate and house (by one seat) and had the governor’s office. Hardly a mandate BUT they immediately implemented multiple very restrictive gun laws and went full steam ahead with a very liberal agenda. Expect no less from these rubes.
Interesting. So the Feds can, at any time, shut down ammo sales to private citizens by simply putting in a priority order for all available production, and then stockpile it somewhere (or give it to gangs)
“Ammo shelves have been nearly bare for months already.”
If you have something in .17 you’re golden.
1. is likely. Manager actually likes having us there to buy his merchandise, and he came outside without prompting to give us updates on his situation.
2. Unlikely. See #1 above.
3. I agree. That comment surprised me, but he did not specifically mention a *Trump* EO. He just said EO. Could be from Biden, could be from executives from the companies. Not clear.
I haven’t set foot in our local AS in months. The last shipment to show was met with a line at the door. Then they let the first few people buy up everything.
I just buy online as it becomes available at a decent (but not great) price.
According to the guys who own our local gun shop/range, ammo availability was making a rebound. There were still folks price gauging, but the club’s suppliers were starting to have more and more available. Then the election happened and the shortage started all over again.
And gasoline with additive for long term storage.
Sounds like your a real American willing to rob and kill to get what you want.
I think it would be much better to make friends with them.
National guard armories hardly have nothing on hand.
They are to afraid of inventory control and theft to keep much around.
I know at one time they armory in my town.
Kept the bolts for all their rifles at the local sheriff so if some on stole them they would not have working rifles
Generally not.
Most National Guard armories have very little, if any ammunition on hand.
Rifles are kept separate from the rifle bolts.
For a long time, rifle bolts for the National Guard armory in Sawyer County, Wisconsin, were kept locked up at the Sheriff's office.
Nearly all ammunition for the Guard was kept at Fort McCoy, a U.S. Army installation in Southern Wisconsin.
Resupply from National Guard armories is a pipe dream.
Law enforcement shouldn’t need any ammo. The democrats have promised to de-fund them.
I guess one could call me a hoarder. I stocked up as the prudent thing when the writing was on the wall and before the panic buying commenced.
I make no apologies.
And I have plenty, but I am always up for a few more boxes. Seems everyone else felt the same way :)
There’s a difference between “having a stash” and being a hoarder. Hoarders keep other people from having a stash.
If you’re a hoarder, you know it, no guessing.
