I won’t disagree with that at all. However, it seems to me that we have gone from “Non-Marginalizing” to bowing down and knuckling under to say 13% of the population, or whatever percentage the minority of the week is of the population. That is the problem that I have.
It’s easy for white guys to see it as knuckling down, just because we’ve been in the upper position. In the long run most (not all to be sure, but most) is just treating them the way we’re used to being treated. Really, bringing it back, there’s just no good reason to call out women as a distraction on live national TV. That’s just lame. The “women weaken the legs” line in Rocky was partly to show he was a crusty old guy out of touch with the times. And that was 40 years ago. If you’re sounding like a character from 40 years ago that was specifically written to be behind the times, you probably need to update.
