I watched “The Sound of Music” on NYE this year (good long movie to help pass the time til midnight) and I cried when he sang “Bless my homeland forever.”
The United States no longer has free speech in any practical sense. My family also no longer has in person schools or in person church, or free/fair elections or a free/fair press. All our institutions and our faith in institutions have been stripped from us in one short year. It’s very stunning, and sad.
But this is how most societies have lived throughout history—under tyranny. I figure, we are in good company. The United States, what is used to be, was the exception and not the rule.
I feel blessed that I had the freedoms I had for so long. Certainly I will appreciate the “simple pleasures” of these freedoms when and if they return.
I too watched it this year. And it’s my favorite scene in the film.
I too feel blessed to have lived through the First America.
I expect their will be a Second America within a generation (or two) once the bitter lessons of logic have all been relearnt.
For now, we may say, “So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodnight!”
I regularly watch at least a few times a year the glorious mountaintop ending scene. Just love that scene/song.
I agree with your sentiments.
Pray, a miracle is coming through faith of our CitizenChristian Patriots. Pray. Have faith God hears us, do not despair.

“The United States no longer has free speech in any practical sense. “
When they go for the guns in a serious way I think that will be the breaking point.
