Since the earlier Twitter-sourced thread about this subject was pulled, I thought this source might be more acceptable.

They are on the backup already. Saying it should be about a week then back to normal. Looks like they were prepared.

Good for them! Always best to be prepared for any contingency.

IF — (work with me here) — IF Pres. Trump does end up enacting the Insurrection Act, one of the first things I personally would like to see him do is to destroy Big Tech and their media buddies.

looks like there are plenty of opportunities for investment to pick up all the conservatives looking to dump their fascist overlords.

Going forward expect to see customers of tech services demanding wording in their contracts expressly forbidding this type of fascist behavior by the vendors. Contract language which contain specific monetary penalties if the terms of the contract are breached for any reason not enforced by a government entity or court. No rational business is going to voluntarily put their neck in a noose that may choke them to death at any time.

We never used GD for any site registration nor services. They’re probably the most overrated, arrogant website name registration etc out there, before alternatives such as namecheap came along. Years ago before the advent of “call anywhere in the US” cell service, they actually CHARGED people to call them for help!

The owner may be ex-military but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s off his rocker and leftard.

Unlike earlier today, I can get into the main site - don't even have to use the backup URL. AR15.com is owned by Brownell's, and my guess is that this contingency was planned for by the corporate lawyers. At least for now, it appears that GoDaddy blinked. We'll have to see how this plays out if it gets to court.

“The owner may be ex-military but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s off his rocker and leftard.”

Maybe you ought to do some research before shooting your mouth off.

If you did, you’d find that the ex-military guy is no longer the owner of Go Daddy, and it’s publicly traded.

Big Tech has invested hundreds of billions on pushing cloud computing.

Understand the lure of off loading your IT hardware and tech support to a third party with huge economies of scale, but have always had the opinion that anyone who puts their mission critical platform on some other guy system is putting you at their mercy.

Seems I was more than right.

This goes way beyond anything having to do with social media - these moronic and arrogant dinosaurs are destroying their brand at a time when disruptive, leap frog tech like 5G wireless, next gen data transfer capabilities, next gen hi speed , hi bandwidth discrete servers and more automated IT software that allows small companies to manage their own systems are all coming together to cut into the biz model of the big tech giants.

Here is hoping that companies and people are going to be re evaluating their online biz models.

I think there are IT managers all over the world realizing that cloud based services are a huge risk factor for them.

The fools at Amazon just showed everyone that they cannot be trusted, and anyone using their services may lose them at any time.

I expect that the smartest IT managers will be implementing their own expandable, cloud technology based server clusters on in-house hardware as soon as they can.

Always use a different vendors for you domain name registration, your domain name service, and your hosting. That way, if your hosting vendor starts playing games, you can instantly route your domain to another web host.

You’re being rerouted to their backup. Look at the URL in the location line.

Parsons does not own GD anymore.

Trust me, GD has been infiltrated by non-American Asian Indians. They are thieves and will steal your domain name. Happened to me, very clever.
