Parler possibly hacked - repeat possibly
Legal Insurrection ^ | 1/11/2021 | checklight

Posted on 01/11/2021 8:28:34 AM PST by linMcHlp

A member of the Legal Insurrection website commentary, who goes by the name "checklight" - reports (the following is the complete comment):

2600’s Hacker Quarterly Facebook page claims Parler has been hacked. Very briefly, critical details of its security and account verification tools were leaked in an email, and were used to establish “millions” of faux-admin accounts. Those accounts exploited the fact that posts to Parler are never deleted, just MARKED as deleted. (That old wheeze? Again? Did we learn nothing from DOS?) Deleted posts and their contents, even those created as private, were then revealed.

And the kicker.. is this: all of this information was thought to be secure and private by individuals who were making the posts. A significant number of those individuals went through the process of being a “Verified Citizen” on Parler. What does that mean?

It means they uploaded a picture of the front and back of their REAL State Driver’s License…….. Let that sink in for a second.

I am positive the FBI has been actively soaking in this information along with the Internet Warriors, but this is how they are going to officially track down.

And it’s how the FBI, DHS, and FAA have been able to immediately and exhaustively create no-fly lists. Every verified attendee of the Capitol riot where they can find a real name has been placed on No-Fly Lists.

[Bold [checklight].] To me [checklight], this looks like Parler was a honeypot. Worth noting, though, that they were hosted by Amazon, and if that were the case, the hack would scarcely have been necessary. But incompetent IT security, and pure blundering on the right generally, are par for the course.

Doesn’t matter if they were hacked or not, as Amazon holds all of the data.

Amazon cannot be trusted. They can easily breach any and all databases on AWS.

I just started binge watching Mr. Robot. Interesting parallels.

Amazon holds all of the data.

This confuses me. Why does Amazon have their data? They are an online shopping and media provider.

it is very expensive to have your own servers most websites can’t afford it

so years ago amazon bought many and lets people rent them and has huge market share

They are an online shopping and media provider.

Actually that makes virtually no money for them. AWS is what makes all the money and they along with Google and Microsoft are the largest cloud providers.

What no one will tell you, there are factions in Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Intel who are now working with the NSA.
They can get just about any info they want.
I know this as I was in a meeting at Intel back in 2013 where an executive said this in a meeting.
It was quickly hushed up.

“... This confuses me. Why does Amazon have their data? ...”

Amazon has probably the largest and fastest server farms in the universe.

Everyone uses Amazon for storage. It’s cost just effective.

AWS (Amazon Web Services) is also a cloud host for virtual servers and services.

They suck at it too, but a lot of high profile companies are using them.

Well, I’m sure they can. Any info that is actually on the internet or systems connected to it, of course. But not everything is connected to the internet. There was actually an episode of Mr. Robot that dealt with this (I just started binge watching a few days ago and am into episode 7 of the first season). The guy thought he knew everything about anybody he hacked, until this one woman, face to face, pulled out her art work that she had never discussed with anyone on the internet. It totally shocked him that there was something VERY important in her life that he actually knew nothing about.

I’m not on Facebook any more. And even when I was, I didn’t post often. There is a lot a hacker could find out about me, but most of it would be right here on FR. I even learned, almost two decades ago, that Google is aware of the content of every gmail message I send and receive. I send emails accordingly.

That is not what the No Fly List was designed for!

It’s unfair!

But here’s the scary one: A friend was discussing a topic at a table at starbucks one day. It was the first time she ever discussed it in her life. It was a verbal conversation, face to face, with their phones sitting on the table.

Later that day she was getting ads on her phone apps regarding that specific subject. The mic in the phone?
