True. This is EXACTLY why Dr. Martin Luther King emphasized non-violence...to the point of simply NOT reacting at all to any sort of provocation.
I remember well watching those marches and the incredible discipline shown by all the participants. They knew that any sign of resistance or responsive speech would be used to smear the movement.
Think back to the Covington Student — perfect example — of what is required. They tried to depict him negatively and it totally failed and boomeranged.
