It should be obvious that there doesn’t need to be a reason. Propaganda machines work through the volume and velocity with which they can fling poo, not reason. Any sort of ammo will do.
And the only way to fight a propaganda machine is with a counter-propaganda machine, to do exactly the same thing, flinging poo as hard and fast as possible in the other direction.
