There have been reports that companies such as Apple (maybe others) are planning an update to disable the Emergency Broadcast System (EBS) which is mandated by law on all smart phones. While we cannot confirm this, it is clear that actions are being directed against certain platforms and individuals due in part to certain political agendas. These actions have escalated since January 6, 2021, and taking place in a coordinated fashion.
As a pro-active measure, we strongly suggest persons receiving this message do the following:
1. Disable the auto-update feature on all network connected two-way communication devices. This would include smartphones, tablets, laptops, even watches. At the time of this writing, information on how to update these settings are still searchable. There are technical work arounds if updates are needed.
2. To all small and medium business using cloud based services: We suggested a nightly backup of all sensitive data to a local drive (i.e. detachable from the downloading device) with a routine retention policy (e.g. delete backups after a certain number of days). Note to businesses: Your company web staff should know how to do this, but insist that you - and not the web staff have a copy in your possession. All persons should download and keep hard copies of your personal contacts in case of operating system error.
3. Obtain the IP address of your websites where you receive information important to you. Use this in the event of domain traffic interruption.
That is all.
“my DNS has gone out multiple times”
I’m not a tech person, and don’t know if this is connected. But recently when I’ve check the battery history on my Android I’ve noticed stretches of time from 5-30 minutes when the phone had been off. Weird. Sometimes I see it just shut off and I can’t turn it on. Then it’ll come on on its own. Auto updates never are on.
“I no longer have a bar for suspending disbelief.”
Sounds like a great tagline.
I just verified that my auto updates are turned off on my Verizon Android (Blackberry Priv). Probably Samsung is different.
I went:
Play Store
“Hamburger” menu 3 lines on top left
Settings
Auto-update apps
Get choices of “over any network”, “over wifi only”, and “don’t auto-update apps”. I’ve had the last chosen for year or so.
I am not convinced that this is completely motivated by hatred and an irrational desire to punish them/us. To me it smells a lot more like extreme fear. The question is what exactly are they afraid of and why?
LS touched on this perceived fear, by some of us, re our wannabe rulers.
They want to impeach/shut up Trump as soon as possible and to silence us, before their child abuser is sworn in as Potus.
Who knows, but at least be able to talk to the country. In case you haven’t noticed they kind of making it hard for him to communicate to the country the regular way.
That’s not what the EBS is for. The simple fact is it would be a felony for them to shut down EBS, there’s NO actually verified source for this story, it’s pure conspiracy theory nonsense, and believing it will just make you more susceptible for the next stupid thing.
Oh, geez. Cheating an election is a felony too and I don’t see anyone going to prison. Marrying your brother to violate INS laws like Omar did, is she in prison? Wake up man. They can anything they want it seems. McConnell stopping them? Graham? Wray? Again, wake the hell up already! Oh no, it’s a felony, we better not do it. Please.
The word felony only has meaning if one is at least borderline law-abiding.
Exactly! Imagine them being worried committing another felony after all the others they have done. They might as well go for broke. Only President Trump has the will to stop it.
Sounds like bullshit! (probably is)
Nanzi panics, asks DOD to stop Trump, committing high treason - asking for a military coup.
She will get away with it.
